===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JUNE 6th – 8th, 2025 =====
Lots of big independent results from this weekend. Both the action and the weather have been heating up as we move into the final 4 months of the Open Championship season.
At the long-running Miami, Oklahoma event, Jon Zimmer Sr finally took home the racing win after posting two runner-up finishes last year. Jamey Garner in the Shockwave tribute truck won on Friday and was a close runner-up to Zimmer Sr on Saturday. Jon Zimmer Jr suffered through mechanical problems on the starting line both nights.
It was mayhem at the Figure 8 race in Joliet, Illinois, so appropriately it was Mayhem with Chris Koehler coming out on top! He won the two hardest races of the opening rounds, with a last-second come-from-behind win over Jerry Beck, following by a nailbiter against Brett Falvey. In the finals, Jared Smith race Koehler hard into the final turn, but clipped the turning tire and flipped over, giving Koehler the only easy time he had racing all weekend.
In Sweden, the Yellow Cab team debuted their new Full Size truck and absolutely dominated the field. Orjan Henriksson was fast and smooth the whole weekend thanks to an excellent suspension system that the other competitors could not match. 66-inchers Peter Nyman and Kewin Harrysson ran hard but came up short in Hogsater. They’ll have until early August now to figure out a way to follow that cab.
This weekend also saw Greg Winchenbach defend his home turf against the #3 ranked driver in the world Triton Robbins; Dillon Fenley win for the 8th time in 11 races; Donny Hebert sweep in Walla Walla; and a whole bunch of Canadian holeshot racing now that the hockey ice has melted.
Coming up this weekend are even more awesome events including: the All Stars in Erie, Pennsylvania; annual Father’s Day events in Berlin, New Jersey and Dacono, Colorado; Overdrive in Circle City; Throwdown in Escanaba; plenty more Canadian events; and the Hot Wheels Live tour bringing monster back to Stafford Motor Speedway (and maybe if we’re lucky with some side-by-side racing, too!)
Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Bryan Wagner, Nate Bay, Nick Jones, Ryan Robinson, Aaron Basl, Monsterrace, Mark Werner, Krystal Carey, Pat Paquet, David Rife, Preston Perez, Sean Green, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== BANGOR, ME =====
6/6 Fri Ngt: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated Triton Robbins [Krazy Train]
6/7 Sat Aft: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated Triton Robbins [Krazy Train]
6/7 Sat Ngt: NO POINTS; Racing cancelled due to track conditions
Hometown hero Greg Winchenbach played spoiler for Triton Robbins and knocked the top-ranked independent driver down to fourth in the Open Championship by sweeping the All Star racing weekend on an incredibly slick and muddy track. To be sure, Robbins did earn another 272 points towards his total and is now 738 points behind Weston Anderson for the 2nd highest Total Points score.
Saturday night’s scheduled racing bracket was cancelled due to the muddy track conditions.
===== CEDAR CITY, UT =====
6/6 Fri Ngt: We do not have results from this event
6/7 Sat Ngt: We do not have results from this event
We hear that breakage created some messy brackets for the Family Tour in Cedar City, but we don’t have enough information to know if we can score it or disqualify it. We do know that Aaron Basl brought out a sharp-looking Night Life retro body and we hear that we’ll get to see more of it throughout the summer!
===== CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI =====
6/8 Sun Aft: MAT BRIAND [Train Wreck] defeated Krystal Carey [Sabotage]
With hockey season all but over, the Canadian monster trucks have begun a hectic tour of their local rinks, showcasing classic concrete holeshot racing. The Edge Motorsports Monster Madness tour closed out their weekend with Mat Briand grabbing his 2nd win of the season. Krystal Carey was runner-up for the second time this weekend, giving her three consecutive final rounds on tour.
===== COTTAGE GROVE, OR =====
6/6 Fri Ngt: NICK JONES [Spitfire] defeated Bill Payne [Rock Star]
6/7 Sat Ngt: BILL PAYNE [Rock Star] defeated Gavin Sell [Reverse Racer]
Nick Jones kicked off the Malicious Tour weekend at historic Cottage Grove Speedway with a Friday night sweep, including his 13th head-to-head win against Bill Payne this season. However early breakage on Saturday kept Jones out of the bracket, so it was Payne coming through on the St Louis-style course with his 16th win of the season.
===== FINDLAY, OH =====
6/7 Sat Aft: JOSH HOLMAN [Rescue Racer] defeated JR Seasock [Play'n Hookie]
Josh Holman scored the second win for the new Rescue Racer on the Monster Truck Bash tour in Ohio.

===== HOGSATER, SWEDEN =====
6/7 Sat Aft: ÖRJAN HENRIKSSON [Yellow Cab] defeated Peter Nyman [Thor]
6/8 Sun Aft: ÖRJAN HENRIKSSON [Yellow Cab] defeated Peter Nyman [Thor]
In 1989, David Cook and David Morris debuted Equalizer on the TNT Motorsports point series and quickly dominated the field with an improved suspension despite being in their first year on tour. We saw shades of that as the Swedish Monsterrace tour kicked off their 6-race season in Hogsater. Orjan Henriksson cruised to wins in the new Yellow Cab entry. The Yellow Cab team has competed on the Monsterrace series before, but this is their first year in the Full Size division. Former champion Peter Nyman in Thor gave it his all, including a wild wheels-up launch down the ski slope during the Sunday afternoon finals, but could not match the smoothness of the Yellow Cab. The closest competition for the upstart was Kewin Harrysson’s semi-final race in Oden, but even that great performance came up nearly a truck’s length short.
We’ll see the Swedish monsters racing next at Tocksfors in early August.
===== JOLIET, IL =====
6/7 Sat Ngt: CHRIS KOEHLER [Mayhem] defeated Jared Smith [Cyber Attack]
I would not be surprised if several drivers from the Route 66 Speedway event had to spend the night downtown at the historic Joliet Correctional Center after this one! The fast and loose Figure 8 course saw numerous turning pole and lane violations, including the semi-final bout between Cyber Attack and Axe.
In that race, Axe spun out heading to the first crossover and entered into Cyber Attack’s lane. The surprise and confusion of coming face-to-face with your opponent must have rattled Jared Smith enough that after the jump he went back to the outside lane for the second half of the track! Foley in Axe then crossed over to the inside lane, resulting in both trucks finishing in their opponent’s lane. Despite having both outside turns, too, Smith was still the fastest and advanced to the finals.
Chris Koehler won the 8-truck bracket and he did it through the toughest part of the bracket. His first round race against Jerry Beck in Dirt Crew and semi-final race against Brett Falvey in The Haymaker were the closest races of the night. Koehler had to make a last-jump charge against Beck, catching him on the jump and passing him in the air over the finish line!
In the finals, Smith in Cyber Attack clipped the final turning tire and had to lock it up to avoid running into Mayhem. That resulted in the cyber truck falling onto its side and Koehler charging on to a well-deserved win.
===== LEXINGTON, VA =====
6/7 Sat Aft: BRANDON DERROW [Bad News Travels Fast] defeated Preston Pérez [Culture Shock]
6/7 Sat Ngt: BRANDON DERROW [Bad News Travels Fast] defeated Preston Pérez [Culture Shock]
Brandon Derrow doesn’t race as much as other teams but he’s always fast when he does. He picked up the racing win on the Overdrive Tour in Lexington. The afternoon win counts for points, but the night race used timed trials to determine the finalist so we can’t score that one.
===== MIAMI, OK =====
6/6 Fri Ngt: JAMEY GARNER [Shockwave] defeated Jon Zimmer Jr [Terminal Velocity]
6/7 Sat Ngt: JON ZIMMER SR [Uproar] defeated Jamey Garner [Shockwave]
It was another stacked field of trucks for the long-running Miami, Oklahoma event. The 340 points awarded to the winner make it the largest independent event of the season. This year’s 12-truck field raced on a two-jump drag track which allowed for some super-close finishes.
Jon Zimmer Sr has been in the Miami final round 3 of the last 4 times, and after back-to-back runner-up finishes last year he finally broke through with the win on Saturday night. His son Jon Jr made the finals and semi-finals but both nights lost out when the Terminal Velocity truck died at the starting line.
Jamey Garner ran a tribute to Chris Darnell, late pilot of the Shockwave jet truck, and proved to be just about as fast as that famous truck, picking up the Friday night and losing by inches in the Saturday final. The Over Bored team has won 5 of the last 14 races in Miami: Garner won in 2019, 2022, and 2025, while Marc McDonald won both nights in 2021. Garner was our biggest improver of the weekend, jumping up 10 spots into 51st place. Zimmer Jr was second best with a +7 ranking and is now inside the Top 25.
===== OREGON, WI =====
This Madison International Speedway event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded
===== PACIFIC, MO =====
This Bigfoot 4x4 Open House event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded
===== RED DEER, AB =====
6/7 Sat Aft: JARED VOGEL [Crude Behavior] defeated Jason Court [Roughneck]
Jared Vogel upset Mikey Vaters Jr in the opening round of holeshot racing in Red Deer. The Overkill truck sounded a bit rough and could not get the same air that we saw him achieve in Ottawa a few weeks ago. Vogel took the momentum from that win to beat out countryman Jason Court in the all-Canadian finals.
===== SHREVEPORT, LA =====
6/7 Sat Ngt: DILLON FENLEY [King Krunch] defeated Brandon Pezo [Predator]
Monster Trucks Maniac came to Shreveport for some high-flying holeshot racing. Fans got to see two classic names in the finals with King Krunch taking out Predator. Dillon Fenley has won 8 of his last 11 events.
===== SIOUX FALLS, SD =====
This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

6/7 Sat Aft: JIMMY CRETEN [Bounty Hunter] defeated Kory Kinal [Jekyll & Hyde]
6/7 Sat Ngt: KORY KINAL [Jekyll & Hyde] defeated Jimmy Creten [Bounty Hunter]
Kory Kinal has been in the finals 6 times-in-a-row now and has moved up to 23rd place overall. Jimmy Creten stays put in 10th with 29 wins which is now tied with Coty Saucier for the most in the sport this season. He also holds a 25-9 lead over Kinal in head-to-head races.
===== SYDNEY, NS =====
6/7 Sat Aft: JESSE COMO [Rat Nasty] defeated Krystal Carey [Sabotage]
High flying Jesse Como in the Rat Nasty took the holeshot win over Krystal Carey in Sydney for his first win of the season.
===== WALLA WALLA, WA =====
6/7 Sat Aft: DONNY HEBERT [Temporarily Insane] defeated Stanley Hernandez [Lone Wolf]
6/7 Sat Ngt: DONNY HEBERT [Temporarily Insane] defeated Jerrod Compton [Anubis]
Donny Hebert had the Temporarily Insane truck running strong in Walla Walla for the Legends of Monster Trucks Tour and he powered his way to his 4th and 5th wins of the season on the Chicago-style course.
===== WALTON, KY =====
6/7 Sat Ngt: RANDY BARTON [Bugzilla] defeated Bryant Rogers [Relentless]
After being runner-up at this event last year, Randy Barton came back looking to finish the job in Walton, Kentucky, and he did—winning for the 2nd consecutive time on the Full Throttle tour. Breakage made for an unusual bracket and let Bryan Rogers lose his was to the finals. But in the end, he’s the one getting second place points
