===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR APRIL 18th – 20th, 2025 =====

Berto Trevino won his first Monster Jam racing bracket and then did it again the next afternoon. He ended up with 2 wins and 2 runner-ups in Macon and jumped up 12 spots in the Open Championship rankings after his most-successful weekend of his career.

The annual Puyallup races were dominated by Jacob Ladwig who has won 7 of 8 brackets in the Insanity Tour. He beat out Roger Stidell both nights on the no-dirt track.

Preston Collins returned to action with his new team in Marietta, Ohio and quickly won both nights with the Renegade Tour.

While there were fewer events this weekend, the ones we had were notable in that we had a lot of rare winners. Second-generation driver Christian Poutre won in his first night out, beating father Rob Poutre in the finals. Gavin Sell won for the first time since August with the Malicious Tour at historic Cottage Grove Speedway. Stanley Hernandez broken 0-for-8 streak in the finals with his win in Ennis, Texas. Daniel Aimes won for the first time this season with Culture Shock in Brooksville, Florida. Jamey Garner in Over Bored won a Monster Jam Arena Series event for the first time since 2022. And Travis Groth waited until the final race of the Toughest Monster Truck season to win for the first time on tour.

Coty Saucier continues to lead the Open Championship. He has a huge lead in Total Points, but that also means he can’t get any higher there. It will come down to Saucier maintaining a solid Average Points score to keep his top spot. Triton Robbins and Tyler Menninga are neck-and-neck for the final podium position as the Krazy Train has been building up stream right as Menninga has had some off weeks. Former teammates Jimmy Creten and Rob Poutre lead the way for the fully independent teams (no Monster Jam events) although this time their doing it on different tours.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Aaron Basl, Nick Jones, Gabriel Lee, Sean Green, Jerry Furajter, Chris Foss, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

4/19 Sat Aft: GAVIN SELL [Identity Theft] defeated David Tucker [Reverse Racer]

4/19 Sat Ngt: BILL PAYNE [Rock Star] defeated Nick Jones [Spitfire]

Gavin Sell won his first event since Burlington, Washington last August, winning this time at the historic Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon. Last August was also the last time was saw David Tucker of the T-Maxx truck in action, but he was back in a cameo spot with Straight-Up Racing and scored a runner-up finish. Tour regulars Bill Payne and Nick Jones were in the finals in the night, meeting for the 17th time this season. Payne won for the 6th time as Jones still leads in head-to-head competitions.

===== ENNIS, TX =====

4/19 Sat Aft: CHRISTIAN POUTRE [Fire Hazzard] defeated Rob Poutre [USA-1]

4/19 Sat Ngt: STANLEY HERNANDEZ [Lone Wolf] defeated Christian Poutre [Fire Hazzard]

Second-generation Christian Poutre made his racing debut in Ennis, Texas this weekend driving the same truck that his father Rob Poutre debuted in just a few years ago. It took Rob a mere 16 events to get his first racing win with the Z-Tour in Fayetteville, North Carolina; but Christian took only a few minutes as he came out and scored the racing win over his father at the very first event. He was also runner-up later that night with Stanley Hernandez grabbing his first win since January, ending a streak of 8 final round appearances without a win.

===== FREDERICKSBURG, TX =====

4/19 Sat Aft: JERRY FURAJTER [Shark Attack] defeated Devin Jones [T-Rex]

Jerry Furajter has been in the finals in all of the last 14 recorded events we have for the Monster Truck Wars and he grabbed another win for Team Shark Attack on the drag racing track in Fredericksburg.

===== GRAND FORKS, ND =====

4/19 Sat Aft: TRAVIS GROTH [Smashosaurus] defeated Daron Basl [Block Head]

The Toughest Tour concluded their 2025 Points Series in Grand Forks on a huge reverse Chicago-style track that tripped up several drivers in the early rounds. One of those was Travis Groth in Smashosaurus who ended up sideways after the first jump and lost easily to Tim Jones in Tailgator. But a combination of breakage and other slow runs still had Groth as the fast loser, so he returned to beat defending champ Jerry Beck in the semis and then narrowly beat Daron Basl in Blockhead in the finals.

Jerry Beck in Dirt Crew won the Toughest Tour points championship for a second year in a row. The points included Skills and Freestyle events, but Beck had a strong racing season, too, with 5 wins and 5 runner-ups. Daron Basl won 7 times in 11 finals. Jared Smith and Tim Jones each had 2 wins, while Tyler Groth had 1 win. Travis Groth’s first and only win was this night at the finale in Grand Forks.

===== GRASS VALLEY, CA =====

4/19 Sat Aft: MASON RIFE [Outlaw] defeated Kaley Engstrom [Shark Attack]

4/19 Sat Ngt: AARON BASL [T-Rex] defeated Kaley Engstrom [Shark Attack]

Mason Rife made a small move to join the Top 50 in the rankings with his 12th win of the season. Breakage kept the Outlaw out of racing in the nightcap which saw Aaron Basl win for the 3rd time in 4 races. Kaley Engstrom has been in the finals 32 times now, which is the 2nd most of all drivers.

===== LINCOLN, NE =====

4/18 Fri Ngt: BLAKE GRANGER [Monster Mutt Dalmatian] defeated Brandan Tulachka [Just Get Er Done II]

4/19 Sat Aft: BLAKE GRANGER [Monster Mutt Dalmatian] defeated Brandan Tulachka [Just Get Er Done II]

4/19 Sat Ngt: JAMEY GARNER [Over Bored] defeated Blake Granger [Monster Mutt Dalmatian]

Blake Granger made big moves in the rankings for a second week in a row. It was also the 2nd week in a row that he missed the weekend sweep in the final heat of the weekend. This time it was Stadium star Jamey Garner—substituting for Mark Hall who was not in attendance due to the recent death of his mother—who took the win. For Garner this was his first racing win since the Stadium race in Cleveland back in June 2023, and it was his first Arena Series racing win since Nashville in January 2022. Also worthy of mention in Brandan Tulachka’s two runner-up finishes which gives him 4 final rounds this month.

===== MACON, GA =====

4/18 Fri Ngt: BERTO TREVINO [Monster Mutt Rottweiler] defeated Tim Hall Jr [Jurassic Attack]

4/19 Sat Aft: BERTO TREVINO [Monster Mutt Rottweiler] defeated Weston Anderson [Grave Digger]

4/19 Sat Ngt: WESTON ANDERSON [Grave Digger] defeated Berto Trevino [Monster Mutt Rottweiler]

4/20 Sun Aft: WESTON ANDERSON [Grave Digger] defeated Berto Trevino [Monster Mutt Rottweiler]

Berto Trevino had the best racing weekend in his career in Macon, Georgia. He advanced to the finals in all four events and won twice, including once over Top Ten racer Weston Anderson. He racked up 810 points and his first career Monster Jam racing win, which moved him up 12 spots in the Open Championship rankings. Weston Anderson also picked up 2 wins giving him 20 overall this season and bumping him up into 6th place in the rankings.

===== MARIETTA, OH =====

4/19 Sat Aft: PRESTON COLLINS [Velociraptor] defeated Steven Thompson [Hurricane Force]

4/19 Sat Ngt: PRESTON COLLINS [Velociraptor] defeated Ceejay Rettew [Stinger Unleashed]

Preston Collins was a star driver on the Monster Truck Wars for the past few years and ended his tenure there in February with an 8-race final round streak. Now he’s back driving Velociraptor for Team Throttle Monster and went right back on top in his Renegade Tour debut in Marietta, Ohio. Collins won both nights of three-jump drag racing, first in the dry and then in the mud. That gives him 3 wins in a row. That’s 10 wins overall for Collins this season.

He’s up to 37th now with 12 wins in 20 events. Roger Stidell returned to the driver’s seat for the first time since driving Earthshaker in Vancouver back in 2019 but advanced to the finals both nights, including two semi-final wins over Josh Baumgartner in Bigfoot.
