===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR SEPTEMBER 5th – 15th, 2024 =====
What a difference a couple weeks make. Last time we wrote, Tyler Menninga had just been bumped into first place. But then Tristan England knocked off Menninga in all but 1 race in Savannah and—coupled with mechanical problems on Grave Digger—knocked Menninga back down to 2nd again. England won 1404 points in Georgia and is now on the podium in 3rd place for the first time this season. For Menninga, his hopes of defending his 2023 Open Championship and winning an unprecedented fourth will come down to Rosemont. Even with five events, he may not have enough to get back on top, but we’re all excited to watch him try!
Daron Basl in Blockhead has been having an awesome season for the independent DCT Powersports and is only the 8th person this year to win 20 races. He was in the finals all 3 times at the 4 Wheel Jamboree in Indianapolis (adding to his 2-for-3 performance in Bloomsburg).
Kaley Engstrom took a bite out of the competition in Raleigh and Paducah with four straight wins on the Monster Truck Wars tour and moves up 10 spots in the rankings!
Important news: there are only TWO WEEKS remaining in the 2024 Open Championship! September 29th is the final day of racing before we crown our 6th champion. There’s still time to get in late results, so please check our other post with a list of events we still need results for.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Mike Christensen, Mark Werner, Lee Collins, Pat Paquet, Mike Bevacqua, Max Gillie, J.r. Rouse, Preston Perez, Ethan Jones, Nick Jones, Nick Kraemer, Alex Steinhaus, Nate Bay, Brandon Gallie, Andrew Thornton, Daniel Clark, Bryan Wagner, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== HIDALGO, TX =====
This Monster Jam Arena Series event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded. This was a frustrating one to not score since Hidalgo usually has side-by-side racing. But even more than that, it is a huge 5-race weekend and this year featured a stacked line-up (1.019 caliber) that included title-contender Tyler Menninga. This could have had huge implications in the rankings, and since no points were available it still does, just not in the way we were expecting.

That win made him only the 8th driver to record 20 racing wins this season and bumped him up to 12th place.

Triton Robbins is getting geared up for his full-time slot on the Monster Jam Arena Series next winter with a sweep of racing in Lancaster. It’s been a bit slower year for Triton as he ranks 38th, but we’re expecting to see him high up next year as he racks up points on the heavy Monster Jam schedule.

9/8 Sun Ngt: TRISTAN ENGLAND [JCB DIGatron] defeated Jon Zimmer Sr [Uproar]
This was the most important race of the weekend! Five huge events in Savannah with an incredible line-up including title-contender Tyler Menninga. The Grave Digger driver had the Open Championship in his hands but was stymied first by former World Finals Racing Champion Tristan England and then later by mechanical problems. The result was that Menninga gained Points but lost in Average which dropped him back down below Ryan Anderson for the top rankings.
England, on the other hand, was in every final round and won the last three events which boosted his Average above Menninga and also bumped him up into 3rd place Overall, just ahead of Adam Anderson! He scored a huge 1,404 points in Savannah alone! England has been in the Top 5 since February but this is his highest ranking of the season.
