===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JUNE 27th – JULY 1st, 2025 =====

Greg Winchenbach put together a 3-race winning streak over a long five-day, two-city weekend with two different promoters. While veteran Winchenbach has many wins to his name, young guns Kylie Kent, Eric Howe, and Garrret Gramps each picked up their first career racing win this weekend! Howe debuted the new-look Country Strong in Rushville and beat out Stomper for the win; Kent was quick to the throttle to beat her teammate Haymaker at the historic Mansfield event; and Gramps won by inches in front of his hometown crowd in Chico, California.

We also saw Randy Barton extend his Full Throttle Tour winning streak to 4 events. Mike Vaters Jr won both events in New York now that their tour has moved outside. Also lots and lots of mud and rain, again, including a real swamp of a race track in Deadwood, South Dakota.

This weekend (in fact today!) is the Monster Jam World Finals in Salt Lake City! Huge amount of points on the line in addition to the world championship. The LCQ tonight is considered a separate bracket for the Open Championship points, so the drivers competing in that field have a chance to win over 1000 points this weekend if they can win both the LCQ and main event.

We’re entering the final 3 months of the Open Championship! Keep sending those results in because we’re entering crazy fair season with events almost every day and we need you help!

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: J.r Rouse, Ryan Robinson, Gabriel Lee, Tim Howard, Lee Collins, Max Gillie, Preston Perez, Bryan Wagner, Nick Jones, Matt Turner, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== BOYD, TX =====

6/27 Fri Ngt: JOHNNY DAVENPORT [Ghost Ryder] defeated Chris Davis [Fire Hazzard]

6/28 Sat Ngt: JOHNNY DAVENPORT [Ghost Ryder] defeated Chris Davis [Fire Hazzard]

Breakage kept Dillon Fenley out of the racing bracket for the Monster Trucks Maniac tour in Boyd, so it was Johnny Davenport earning sweeping the weekend in Ghost Ryder.

===== BURLINGTON, KY =====

6/28 Sat Aft: RANDY BARTON [Bugzilla] defeated Roger Gauger [Bigfoot]

6/28 Sat Ngt: RANDY BARTON [Bugzilla] defeated Colton Kiser [High Roller III]

The Bug keeps getting faster every time we see it, and Randy Barton added two more wins on the Full Throttle Tour to bring his season total to 4 consecutive wins.

===== CHICAGO, IL =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== CHICO, CA =====

6/27 Fri Ngt: GARRETT GRAMPS [Identity Theft] defeated Nick Jones [Spitfire]

6/28 Sat Ngt: DONALD EPIDENDIO [Titan] defeated Bill Payne [Rock Star]

A double engine failure in the semi-finals on Friday night knocked favorites Titan and Rock Star out of the bracket. Instead, fans got to see hometown hero Garrett Gramps and Nick Jones in a thrilling race decided on the final jump. Gramps inched ahead just at the line to score his first win of the season. On Saturday, the heavy hitters were back and Donald Epidendio cruised to his 12th win of the season. He is now 20-2 against Payne in head-to-head races.

===== COACHELLA VALLEY, CA =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== DEADWOOD, SD =====

6/28 Sat Ngt: CARSON WILLIAMS [Velociraptor] defeated Ryan Robinson [Monster Moose]

6/29 Sun Aft: TRAVIS GROTH [Monster Moose] defeated Tyler Groth [Double Trouble]

Carson Williams advanced to the final round for the 7th consecutive time on the Monsters of Destruction tour, picking up the win over Ryan Robinson, who was competing in his 3rd final round of the season in his 3rd different truck. He was also runner-up in Iron Warrior and El Nitro Loco prior to this event in Monster Moose.

Sunday brought torrential rains that resulted in the track looking more like a swamp buggy course with standing water and lots of mud. Travis Groth trudged through to the win, switching to the Moose for the event after his Veteran truck blew an engine the day before.

===== ELKO, MN =====

This Eve of Destruction event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== LANCASTER, NY =====

6/28 Sat Ngt: MICHAEL VATERS II [Overkill Evolution] defeated Chris DeHoyos [Higher Education]

6/29 Sun Aft: MICHAEL VATERS II [Overkill Evolution] defeated Daniel Donnelly [Suberfoot]

Vaters Monster Motorsports went back outside after several weeks inside Canada’s hockey rinks, and Mike Jr shows that he can win racing no matter the course size. He easily bested the field of teammates for his 8th and 9th wins of the season.

===== LEWISTON, ID =====

6/28 Sat Ngt: JACOB LADWIG [Rat Attack] defeated David Tucker [El Taco Loco]

David Tucker’s driving in the finals against Jacob Ladwig suited his Crazy Taco motif, picking up the inside tires during full throttle turns on the Crazy 8 track with the Insanity tour in Idaho. But that aggression came with some squirrely turns, too, while veteran racer Jacob Ladwig was fast and smooth as always and wins for the 18th time this season.

===== MANSFIELD, OH =====

6/28 Sat Aft: KYLIE KENT [Frostbite] defeated Brett Falvey [The Haymaker]

6/28 Sat Ngt: We do not have results from this event

We still need the night bracket from Mansfield, but the afternoon saw Kylie Kent win her first career racing bracket! She did it against her teammate and strong racer Brett Falvey thanks to a small holeshot and a heavy throttle that kept her in the lead to the finish. Winning at the historic Mansfield grandstand is the cherry on top.

===== MIDDLEBOURNE, WV =====

A mid-event rain storm washed out racing for the Monster Truck Bash event in Middlebourne, so no results to report.

===== OAKWOOD, IL =====

6/29 Sun Aft: THOMAS BORDERS [Bigfoot] defeated Bryant Rogers [Relentless]

The Full Throttle Tour had a full weekend with events all over the upper Midwest. Thomas Borders was called upon to drive The Original in Oakwood (or Danville or Cayuga depending on which map you consult) and he came through with a win. That’s his 3rd win of the 2024-2025 season and each was in a different truck: first Raybestos Powertain, the Monkey Business, and now Bigfoot.

===== OWENSBORO, KY =====

6/27 Fri Ngt: DAVID OLFERT [Dirt Crew Dozer] defeated Jared Smith [Maximus]

6/28 Sat Ngt: TOMMY VARILONE [Dirt Crew] defeated David Olfert [Dirt Crew Dozer]

Last weekend we saw the All Star Tour featuring Team Scream. This week in Owensboro it was DCT Powersports taking center stage. David Olfert won the most racing points with a win and runner-up finished. Defending King of the Beach Jared Smith picked up his 9th final round appearance of the season. And who’s this? Tommy Varilone scores his first racing win with the new team as he puts Dirt Crew into victory lane on Saturday night. Varilone started his racing career with the Garden Brothers Monster Truckz tour in 2022 where he won at least 2 events. In 2023 and 2024, he raced with Triple B Motorsports where he won 17 races driving Lone Wolf and later Rampage. This weekend marked his 2nd behind the wheel of Dirt Crew.

===== PUEBLO, CO =====

6/28 Sat Aft: We do not have results from this event

6/28 Sat Ngt: DAN DAHLGREN [Shark Bite] defeated Dennis Anderson [Extreme King Sling]

We’re still missing results from the afternoon, but we know that Jekyll & Hyde had some problems that caused Kory Kinal to switch over to Bounty Hunter for the night show. The biggest story out of that bracket, however, was Dan Dahlgren beating Kinal in the opening round and then taking out Dennis Anderson in Extreme King Sling in the final round! Dennis has filled in a few times in the racing bracket the past two years when other trucks have broken, but this was his first loss.

===== RUSHVILLE, IN =====

6/30 Mon Ngt: ERIC HOWE [Country Strong] defeated Dalton VanSkyock [Stomper]

Eric Howe and Country Strong won his first career Full Throttle Tour racing bracket on a muddy Chicago-style track in Rushville, Indiana! Our books have him down for 40 events since 2019, running a light summer schedule mainly centered around Indiana. This is only his 2nd time in the finals in Open Championship competition. The first win also coincides with the debut of a new red-white-and-blue paint scheme that replaced the previous white-and-green look. This night saw Howe take wins over Higher Roller, American Outlaw, and Stomper in the finals.

===== SOUTH BEND, IN =====

6/30 Mon Aft: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated Brett Falvey [The Haymaker]

7/1 Tue Ngt: BRETT FALVEY [The Haymaker] defeated Kylie Kent [Frostbite]

Throwdown broke back the checkered-flag pennant banners for some old-school holeshot racing in South Bend. Greg Winchenbach won for the 3rd time in a week on Monday night. Tuesday saw Brett Falvey back in the finals against Kylie Kent. The last time they met in the finals in Mansfield Kent got the win, but this time Falvey returned to form and picked up his 12th win of the season.

===== SWANSBORO, NC =====

This Overdrive Tour event only had 3 trucks so we cannot score it for points. Our minimum bracket size is 4 trucks. Brandon Derrow in Bad News Travels Fast won the timed trials event both nights while Preston Perez won the holeshot grudge match race against Derrow both nights.

===== WAYNESBURG, PA =====

6/28 Sat Aft: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated RJ Turner [War Wizard]

6/28 Sat Ngt: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated Zach Winchenbach [Lumberjack]

Greg Winchenbach kicked off a long weekend with back-to-back drag racing wisn in Waynesburg with the Renegades. The tracks were a bit slick due to weekend rains, but it was great conditions for a monstah lobstah.
