===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JUNE 7th – 9th, 2024 =====
This early summer of great monster truck racing continued with some incredible independent events this weekend. Monster Jam only had timed events, so the independent teams were able to make some moves in the standings while the corporate trucks were not earning points.
Miami, Oklahoma was sold out once again for 13 top trucks to compete at the MAP Outlaw Nationals. Jon Zimmer Sr made the final round both nights but lost both and now has 6 runner-up finishes in his last 7 races. Jon Zimmer Jr was on the ragged edge in racing on Friday night and took home the win. An oversteer in the first round on Saturday knocked him out early. Tim Hall Jr made the semi-finals on Friday before losing to Zimmer Jr, but advanced all the way to the finals on Saturday and won by inches to claim the biggest bracket of his young career.
Joliet. Illinois is another famous home for great independent racing. Team Scream and Warped Motor Spots filled up the semi-final spots with two trucks each with the #1s from each team meeting up in the finals. There, Jim Koehler suffered major engine damage going into the final turn which let Cory Snyder breakthrough for the win and finally end his string of runner-up finishes.
Bangor, Maine saw a cross-over rivalry as the All Star’s Triton Robbins welcomed former Monster Truck Wars star Alex Bardin to the tour driving Stone Crusher. The two met in the finals every race with Bardin taking the edge 2-1 and had 3 heat wins against Krazy Train in total.
Shawn Oblen and Cameron Tweedy each posted two-win sweeps. Macey Picklesimer (nee Nichter) won for the first time in her 12 year career in Walton, Kentucky! Brandon Gallie got his first taste of concrete holeshot racing and took 2 of 3 with WGAS at the brand new Tahoe Blue Event Center. Mike Christensen and David Olfert met up for the first time since the Monster Jam World Finals LCQ finals but this time with a different result. There were a few other events this weekend, too, which we talk about more below.
Thank you to everyone who reported results to us this weekend: Max Gillie, Bryan Wagner, Greg Winchenbach, Mark Galloway, Nate Bay, Dallas Glenn-Rogers, Cameron Tweedy, Preston Perez, Nick Kraemer, John Brown, Mike Christensen, Zhenya Tilley, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

6/8 Sat Ngt: ALEX BARDIN [Stone Crusher] defeated Triton Robbins [Krazy Train]
It was a cross-series rivalry with the All Star Tour in Maine this weekend as former series champion Triton Robbins welcomed former Monster Truck Wars star Alex Bardin to the mix. The two met in the finals in all three events. The first night was a bit sloppy as both drivers oversteered the final turn, but Bardin recovered sooner for the win. On Saturday afternoon, Bardin bested Robbins again in the first round but Triton returned as fast loser and went on to beat Alex in the finals. Unfortunately for the Krazy Train team, that would be their last win over Stone Crusher as Alex Bardin takes the weekend with a Saturday night win.
Bardin gains 4 spots in the standings with his 8th and 9th wins of the season. Triton meanwhile jumps up a huge 11 spots into 41st.

After losing his last four trips to the finals, Cory Snyder finally got the break he needed when Jim Koehler blew up his engine on the backstretch in the final round of the Route 66 Speedway race in Joliet. Snyder was tied with Koehler into the final turn and it would have been a photo finish, but we’re sure Cory was glad to finally get a win either way. Their teammates—Preston Perez in Toxic and Chris Koehler in Brutus—were the semi-finalists and each lost to the rival team’s eventual finalist. The win gave Snyder +4 in the rankings and Koehler moved up 7.

6/8 Sat Ngt: TIM HALL JR [Jurassic Attack] defeated Jon Zimmer Sr [Uproar]
This summer of amazing monster truck racing continued at the historic Miami Fairgrounds in Oklahoma for the MAP Outlaw Nationals featuring 13 awesome independent trucks on a huge extended Chicago-style course.
Jon Zimmer Jr came into Friday night with 4 wins in his last 5 races and he was full-throttle through all the rounds, often landing on the up-ramp for the finish line jump. Despite the ragged-edge approach, he maintained controlled to post wins over Jerry Beck, Alec White, Tim Hall Jr, and eventually his father Jon Sr in the finals.
Saturday night did not go as well for Jon Jr as he oversteered his final turn in the first round against Tim Jones in Tailgator and was knocked out early. Father Jon Sr was as steady as always, however, and advanced to his 6th final round in his past 7 races. The sad part of that is that his past 5 finished were all second place and that would be the case again here in Miami as Tim Hall Jr in Jurassic Attack put together a great lap to win the biggest event of his young career and take home 320 points with his 13th win of the season.
The two finals netted Jon Sr 5 spots in the standings and he’s now 23rd. Jon Jr gained 1 spot into 12th just ahead of Bari Musawwir. Tim Hall Jr gained 8 spots to move into 26th and get near his highest ranking of the season.
