===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR SEPTEMBER 16th – 23rd, 2024 =====
One week remains in the 2024 Open Championship! Ryan Anderson is looking to win his 3rd Open Championship which would tie Tyler Menninga’s record. With a reduced schedule this weekend, it looks likely that he will, but there are still some big races that could shift around the standings before it’s all over.
In Vancouver, we’re watching 10th-ranked Weston Anderson and 20th-ranked Bryce Kenny as they look to move up at the last minute, plus Tim Hall Jr in Jurassic Attack as he looks to put himself inside the Top 25 with three of his Team Throttle Monster teammates.
In Cullman, Monster Truck Wars has three events scheduled and if Preston Collins gets the call for Outlaw, he may have a chance to claim the season record for Most Wins. Currently Collins is tied with Menninga and Dalton Widner with 31 wins each.
Plus there’s a big 8-truck field of independents in Wildwood, New Jersey as the Renegade Tour hosts Thunder on the Beach this year.
This past weekend saw Charlie Pauken dominate on the concrete in Scotland while Tyler Menninga won 3 of 5 in Rosemont. MJ Solorio also won his first Monster Jam bracket there. Jimmy Creten finally joins the rankings after 2 wins in Missouri; Ryan Disharoon picks up two wins at historic Dixie Speedway at their 30th anniversary race; and Team Scream wins for the first time on the Canadian All Out Tour in Quebec.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Preston Perez, Roberta Olfert, Sean Green, Gabriel Lee, Devin Winfield, John Brown, Samantha Sides, Nick Jones, Jamie Elmhirst, Stanley Hernandez, Mike Christensen, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

Outside of Monster Jam, Nick Pagliarulo has had a great racing season with 2 wins and 3 finals in his 3 events. Unfortunately there were no wins on the Monster Jam tour and he finished the summer with 18 consecutive non-points events. But in Coeburn the Kraken was unleashed as Nick beat out Steven Thompson (twice) and top independent racer Preston Perez to claim his 2nd win of the season.

9/21 Sat Aft: JIMMY CRETEN [Bounty Hunter] defeated Kory Kinal [Jekyll & Hyde]
9/21 Sat Ngt: JIMMY CRETEN [Bounty Hunter] defeated Kory Kinal [Jekyll & Hyde]
Jimmy Creten is one of the very few drivers to have been ranked in every year of not only the MTROC but also the WMTRL. This year, Creten let others drive his Bounty Hunter truck quite often and so it wasn’t until this past weekend in Eldon, Missouri that Jimmy reached the 20-race plateau to qualify for the rankings. Despite having only 20 races on the books, Creten has won 15 and was runner-up in another 4, putting him 38th in Total Points but 6th in Average and thereby 19th overall.

9/22 Sun Aft: MATT CODY [Grave Digger] defeated Bari Musawwir [Black Panther]
Monster Jam was at the OVO Hydro in Scotland for the first time over the weekend. This was the second time we got to see the no-dirt Ramped Up concept in action and one major improvement over the trial run in Birmingham was veteran Charlie Pauken sporting a set of buff-down BKT tires for improved traction. The slicks worked like a charm, too, as Pauken won the first three races handily. On Sunday afternoon, his truck broke during introductions and it looked like his winning streak was done, but the crew got repairs finished in time for Pauken to answer the call, only for the BKT buffs to bite a little too hard in the first turn and send Pauken onto his side. Matt Cody went on to win, giving him wins in four countries this year: Scotland, Germany, Chile, and the United States. Charlie Pauken’s 3 wins moved him up 11 spots in the standings!
===== GRANBY, QC =====

9/21 Sat Aft: JOE FOLEY [Avenger] defeated Mike Worsley [Outfoxed]

9/21 Sat Ngt: PRESTON COLLINS [Outlaw] defeated Devin Jones [T-Rex]
It’s been a month since we’ve seen Devin Jones in the winner’s circle, but he got there in very hot Longview, Texas. Jones has been in 4 finals this month. Preston Collins split the weekend with Jones which gives him 31 wins and puts him in a 3-way tie for Most Wins this season with Tyler Menninga and Dalton Widner.
===== MARNE, MI =====
9/21 Sat Aft: DARON BASL [Blockhead] defeated Dustin Spallone [Frontier Truck Parts]
Another win for Daron Basl in Blockhead and he is up to 11th place. He also has the 7th most points out of all drivers. He has been in the final round in 9 of his last 10 races which includes 4 Throwdown events plus 2 with the Toughest Tour and 3 at the 4 Wheel Jamboree in Indianapolis. Basl has not gone more than 4 races without a trip to the finals this season, with 34 finals in 58 races.
===== NEW RICHMOND, WI =====
9/21 Sat Ngt: PAUL STRONG [Quad Chaos] defeated Paul Craighead [MAGA Monster]
The Monster Truck Nitro Tour expanded their field to eight trucks in New Richmond, Wisconsin and ran a wild course where drivers faced off head-to-head before completing a tear-drop shaped loop through opposite infield turns and then coming back head-on towards the finish line. Breakage including a blown engine shook up the bracket but it came down to Paul Strong and Paul Craighead in the finals with the former picking up his 5th recorded win of the season.

Tyler Menninga won three times at the historic Rosemont Horizon near Chicago but it was not enough to reclaim the top ranking in the Open Championship. His Saturday night bid was cut short in the first round as he grazed the turning pole and was disqualified. That opened the door for MJ Solorio to win his first ever Monster Jam Arena Series bracket and moved him up 9 spots in the standings. Jon Zimmer Jr was also running strong with a win and two final rounds which held him solidify his 13th place ranking.
