===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JUNE 20th – 23rd, 2024 =====

A lighter weekend of racing but still some great story lines. Alex Bardin was super smooth and fast over the three-jump drag track in Pittsburgh and continues to be one of the stronger independent drivers. No other independent—in fact, no other driver at all—has as many wins as Dalton Widner who just secured his 30th. Blake Grangers doesn’t have that many, but he has won in 7 different countries after taking Max-D to victory circle in Germany.

We also saw Rod Schmidt laying down the power to knock off strong competition in Cedar Rapids; Brandon Derrow wins twice on a muddy track in Altamont; Mike Rowley scores his first win of the season on the Monster X Tour; Daron Basl reaches a new high with his 13th place ranking; Tim Hall Jr wins a wall-to-wall showdown over Jacob Ladwig on a two-jump track inside the small Kay Rogers Park; and don’t forget that current World #1 Ryan Anderson won again over brother Adam in Nashville!

Thank you to everyone who reported results to us this weekend: Chris Yuhas, Zane Rettew, Preston Perez, Matt Stoltz, Josh Baumgartner, Nick Wishard, Mike Christensen, CJ Burress, Lee Collins, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

6/22 Sat Ngt: BRANDON DERROW [Bad News Travels Fast] defeated Steven Thompson [Hurricane Force]

The Overdrive Tour moved to a smaller venue for their racing this week which was complicated by some muddy conditions which really tested the drivers with keeping themselves straight on course. Steven Thompson got to the finish line first on Saturday night but was disqualified for jumping the light.

Looking at this line-up you’d be justified in expecting to see Eric Swanson (Obsessed) and Aaron Basl (Devastator) in the final round, but it was all veteran Hot Rod Schmidt this day on the fast outdoor drag racing track with Monsters of Destruction. Schmidt took out both rivals and cruised to his 6th win of the season.

The win moves him 3 spots ahead of Ladwig.

Outside of Monster Jam, though, Bardin has won 10 of his 19 events including his last 3. He swept both drag racing events with Monsters N Megas at the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
