===== WEEKEND RECAP =====

Despite a pair of wins on the Stadium Tour in Houston, defending Open Champion Tyler Menninga ended up losing his #1 ranking to Ryan Anderson whose Saturday night win on a muddy track in Anaheim gave him a slim 16 point lead in the rankings. Fellow Stadium racers Colt Stephens (+23), Camden Murphy (+13), and Cory Rummell (+7) all made big moves in the rankings themselves with solid weekends.

On the Arena West tour, Brandon Vinson is all of a sudden in 4th place thanks to back-to-back 4-win weekends in Tacoma and Reno. On the Arena Central tour, Jamie Sullivan becomes the first woman driver in 3 years to reach the Top Ten as she sports a career best 9th place ranking. The Arena East tour lost out again on points as the Baltimore track was restricted to timed racing this year and not eligible for points. There’s a good chance next week’s Washington DC event will be timed, as well, which will make three weekends of no-points for the East tour.

Team T-Trex has controlled the Monster Truck Wars tours. Aaron Basl has 6 wins in a row and Devin Jones has 8 finals in 9 events. Jon Zimmer Sr and Michael Vaters Jr both swept their events in Davie, Florida and Bossier City, Louisiana.

Thank you to everyone who reported results to us this weekend: Aaron Basl, Bryan Wagner, John Brown, Preston Collins, Dillon Fenley, Sean Green, Todd Morey, Nick Kraemer, Alex Steinhaus, Rob Poutre, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== ANAHEIM, CA =====

1/20 Sat Ngt: RYAN ANDERSON [Son-uva Digger] defeated Adam Anderson [Grave Digger]

1/21 Sun Aft: CAMDEN MURPHY [Bakugan Dragonoid] defeated Colt Stephens [ThunderROARus]

Ryan and Adam met on a muddy track in Anaheim for their 4th head-to-head race this season. Adam came out of the first 180-turn wide and took a long-cut over the freestyle jumps which gave Ryan a big lead into the final turn as he went on to beat Adam for the 3rd time this season. That win—and also Adam’s loss—gave Ryan just enough points to move ahead of Adam which consequentially moved Ryan ahead of Tyler Menninga in the overall rankings, too.

Sunday was a dryer day but still a slick track. Camden Murphy is a slick driver, though, and slid his way around the twisting Anaheim track to his first win of the season. He moved up 13 spots to 13th overall which was the biggest move of the weekend except for runner-up Colt Stephens who rocketed up 23rd spots with his first final round appearance of the season.

===== BALTIMORE, MD =====

This Monster Jam Arena event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded. This was a bit of a surprise as Baltimore has had side-by-side racing before. The Monster Jam Arena East tour is in Washington DC this weekend which is usually another timed event, so it might be another null weekend for those drivers.

===== BOSSIER CITY, LA =====

1/19 Fri Ngt: MICHAEL VATERS II [Overkill Evolution] defeated Steven Thompson [Taurus]

1/20 Sat Ngt: MICHAEL VATERS II [Overkill Evolution] defeated Joe Urie [Kamikaze]

That’s 8-for-8 for Mike Vaters this season (we’re still missing results from his other 2 events) as he sweeps his way through the Kicker Nationals in Bossier City. He’s up to 14th place ranking and only 150 points out of 10th place.

===== CLEMSON, SC =====

1/20 Sat Aft: AARON BASL [T-Rex] defeated Michael Hawkins [Outlaw]

1/20 Sat Ngt: AARON BASL [T-Rex] defeated Kaley Engstrom [Shark Attack]

1/21 Sun Aft: AARON BASL [T-Rex] defeated Michael Hawkins [Outlaw]

Both the Basl brothers made big jumps this week. Aaron Basl in T-Rex is up 13 spots into the Top 30 after his 3 race sweep with Monster Truck Wars in Clemson. That’s now six wins in a row.

===== DAVIE, FL =====

1/20 Sat Aft: JON ZIMMER SR [Uproar] defeated Montana Robbins [Plane Krazy]

1/21 Sun Aft: JON ZIMMER SR [Uproar] defeated Triton Robbins [Krazy Train]

The Robbins brothers finally broke the stranglehold that Jon Zimmer Sr and Jr had on the All Star Tour racing brackets this weekend in Davie, Florida. Montana beat Jon Jr in the first round on Saturday and defending series champion Triton Robbins beat him in the semi-finals on Sunday. But while the younger Zimmer was off the pace this weekend, Jon Sr gained some speed and was quick on the turns in the tight Chicago-style track. He’s won 3 of the last 4 events now and is now up to 18th.

===== DUNCAN, OK =====

1/20 Sat Aft: DEVIN JONES [T-Rex] defeated Michael Harper [Outlaw]

1/20 Sat Ngt: PRESTON COLLINS [Shark Attack] defeated Devin Jones [T-Rex]

Team T-Rex is the team to beat on the Monster Truck Wars tour. In addition to Aaron Basl’s 6-race winning streak on the east tour, Devin Jones has posted a win each weekend in the west. He’s been in the finals in 8 of his 9 events. Preston Collins scored another win in Shark Attack but lost his top ten ranking as the Monster Jam drivers powered past him with big weekends in Anaheim and Milwaukee.

===== GLASGOW, SCOTLAND =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded.

===== GONZALES, LA =====

1/20 Sat Ngt: SEAN DUHON [King Krunch] defeated Brandon Swick [Geronimo]

Louisiana native Sean Duhon took control of Texas’ King Krunch this weekend and showed no rust as he scored a win with the CFP No Limits tour over Brandon Swick.

===== GRAND ISLAND, NE =====

1/20 Sat Aft: ROB POUTRE [Bounty Hunter] defeated Dawn Creten [Scarlet Bandit]

Four wins in a row now for Rob Poutre in Bounty Hunter and five runner-up finishes in a row for Dawn Creten. The win moves Poutre up into the Top Ten for the first time. He’s been in the finals in 12 of his 14 events this season.

===== HOUSTON, TX =====

1/20 Sat Ngt: TYLER MENNINGA [Grave Digger] defeated Cole Venard [Black Pearl]

1/21 Sun Aft: TYLER MENNINGA [Grave Digger] defeated Ryan Disharoon [Shaker]

 A successful but frustrating weekend for defending Open Champion Tyler Menninga. He’s won 3 of 4 Stadium Series events this calendar year and won both in Houston with wins over independents Cole Venard and Ryan Disharoon. But despite those wins, he loses his first place ranking to Ryan Anderson. Anderson won the opening night in Anaheim and ended the weekend with a mere 16 point lead over brother Adam Anderson. Those few points, however, were enough to get Ryan into a tie with Tyler Menninga which Ryan wins on the Highest Average tie-breaker. Menninga continues to lead the Total Points rankings by a wide margin (1,629 points! That’s more than 16 heat wins).

===== MILWAUKEE, WI =====

1/20 Sat Aft: JAMIE SULLIVAN [Monster Mutt Dalmation] defeated Brandan Tulachka [Just Get-Er-Done]

1/20 Sat Ngt: WESTON ANDERSON [Grave Digger] defeated Brandan Tulachka [Just Get-Er-Done]

1/21 Sun Aft: FERNANDO MARTINEZ [El Toro Loco] defeated Weston Anderson [Grave Digger]

1/21 Sun Ngt: JAMIE SULLIVAN [Monster Mutt Dalmation] defeated Brianna Mahon [Scooby-Doo!]

The Monster Jam Arena Central tour has been more competitive than most folks were expecting. Brandan Tulachka and Jamie Sullivan have been neck-and-neck with Weston Anderson, and rookie Fernando Martinez earned his first career racing win this weekend in Milwaukee, as well. Jamie Sullivan won twice this weekend giving her 5 wins on the season and moving her into a career best 9th place overall ranking. She’s the first woman inside the Open Championship Top Ten since Dawn Creten hit 10th place on January 6th, 2021.

===== MISSISSAUGA, ON =====

This All Out Tour Northern Lights Party event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded.

===== NYORA, AUSTRALIA =====

This Thrillmasters Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded.

===== RENO, NV =====

1/19 Fri Ngt: JEFF SOUZA [Velociraptor] defeated Tony Ochs [ThunderROARus]

1/20 Sat Aft: BRANDON VINSON [Grave Digger] defeated MJ Solorio [El Toro Loco]

1/20 Sat Ngt: BRANDON VINSON [Grave Digger] defeated Ashley Sanford [Megalodon]

1/21 Sun Aft: BRANDON VINSON [Grave Digger] defeated James Calhoun [Earth Shaker]

1/21 Sun Ngt: BRANDON VINSON [Grave Digger] defeated Dalton Widner [Jurassic Attack]

For the second weekend in a row Brandon Vinson went 4-for-5 on the Monster Jam Arena West tour. With 9 wins, Vinson moves up 2 more spots into 4th place. Although he dominated the wins, overall the weekend in Reno was well balanced with 7 of the 8 drivers advancing to at least one final round.

===== SIOUX FALLS, SD =====

1/19 Fri Ngt: DARON BASL [Blockhead] defeated Jack Brown [Dirt Crew Dozer]

1/20 Sat Ngt: JACK BROWN [Dirt Crew Dozer] defeated Tyler Groth [The Veteran]

Jack Brown returned to the seat of Dirt Crew Dozer after Marc McDonald posted two wins last weekend. Daron Basl in Blockhead had two wins the weekend before, and the two previous winners met up in the first final round of the Toughest Tour in Sioux Falls. Brown got to the finish line first but was penalized for hitting the turn marker which gave Basl the win. Brown was back in the finals on Saturday night and beat out Tyler Groth in Veteran while Basl set out racing with breakage. The Toughest Tour is off next weekend but we’ll see many of these same trucks running with Main Attraction’s Outlaw Nationals in Springfield.
