===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR AUGUST 21st – SEPTEMBER 4th, 2024 =====

This is a big update in more ways than one. First, we’re cramming two weeks of results in to try and catch up on the backlog of results. Second, because we have a new leader in the Open Championship!

Defending and three-time Open Champion Tyler Menninga is back on top for the first time since January. He has been in a tie with Ryan Anderson for months with Anderson winning the first tie-breaker (Average Points). This past weekend in Filer, Idaho, Dalton Widner picked up a big win against stiff competition that gave him 58 more Total Points than Anderson. This had the effect of lowering Anderson’s Rank Score which broke the tie and gave Menninga the top spot in the rankings.

We have only ONE MONTH left in the 2024 Open Championship. Remember that we run from October to September. With Menninga now on top, his main goal will be to stay ahead of Dalton Widner, as well, because if Widner can pass Menninga in Total Points, too, then that would put Mennigna and Anderson back into a tie and Ryan still holds that tie-breaker. The Championship is firmly in Menninga’s hands, however, as he has a HUGE schedule left this month with 4 bracketed events in Savannah, 5 in Hidalgo, and 5 in Rosemont! As long as Tyler remains consistent, he should have his unprecedented fourth Open Championship in hand.

The rest of the reviews are a bit short due to the volume and time constraints. But that doesn’t mean they count any less! We saw some big moves from Weston Anderson (+3), Daron Basl (+3), Rob Poutre (+3), David Olfert (+3), Tim Hall Jr (+3) and others plus four new drivers joined the rankings bringing the total up to 109.

Overall this season we have 276 active monster truck racers with 109 ranked. We have reports on 1,475 of the 1,600 total events which is 92% and included 993 points-scoring brackets.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Logan Smith, Kaden Allen, Mike Christensen, Max Gillie, Aaron Basl, John Brown, Stanley Hernandez, Ewan Ford, Jonas Lundin, Andrew Thornton, Tom Seiner, Mike Bevacqua, Preston Perez, Preston Collins, Rob Poutre, Nick Jones, Brian Manson, Travis Schweizer, Bryan Wagner, Connor McNeil, Michael Nguyen, Mark Werner, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

Not only did this win give Dalton Widner 31 wins on the season, which is the most of any driver, but is also increased his points total to 10,597 which is a mere 58 points more than Ryan Anderson but just enough to bump Anderson down in Total Points ranking and break the tie he had with Tyler Menninga for the 1st overall.
