===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR AUGUST 26th – SEPTEMBER 1st, 2026 =====
Rick Steffens remains the top racer on the Hot Wheels Tour as he sweeps the races in Brazil this weekend. Stanley Hernandez also swept his two events with Monster X in Cedarville, giving him 5 wins this month alone and gaining 7 spots in the rankings. In Sweden, Orjan Henriksson held off the challenge from four other title-contenders to successful defend his Monsterrace championship.
This weekend also saw Jon Zimmer Sr dominate racing with Throwdown. Mat Briand win both times in Medicine Hat. Buddy Tompkins won twice in Razin Kane on the All Star Tour before Bob Robbins picked up his first win since 2024.

The All Star Tour returned to the northeast for a trio of roundy-round races on the asphalt track in Bangor, Maine. Buddy Tompkins won both events on Saturday but had to skip the Sunday bracket with breakage. Instead it was patriarch Bob Robbins returning to the driver’s seat for the first time since March 2024 and picking up the win over Greg Winchenbach.

The Hot Wheels Live tour went racing again during the conclusion of their South America tour and Rick Steffens came out on top once again with Gunkster. Steffens has won 5 of the 7 racing brackets with Hot Wheels this year. Travis Groth gained a spot in the rankings with his runner-up finish on Saturday morning. For Aaron Basl, his runner-up on Saturday night was his 13th time in the finals in 17 events. He needs 3 more racing brackets reported before October 1st to join the rankings this year.

Stanley Hernandez won for the 5th time in 7 events in August, giving him one of his most successful months of his career. He now has 11 wins and 26 final rounds this season and was our biggest improver this week, gaining 7 spots in the Open rankings.

Tim Jones won the first night of the Extreme Nationals in Chickasha, beating Chris Davis on the two-jump straight line course. Tim won his opening heat on Saturday, too, but the final round was not raced and so points could not be scored.

Five drivers came into the final weekend of the Monsterrace season with a chance to win the championship. Defending champion Orjan Henriksson dominated the Full Size class last year, but struggled this year with breakage that kept the points race close. In Ed, the Yellow Cab again had problems during the qualifying rounds, but the team had everything sorted out for the elimination rounds and swept through both days to claim his 2nd consecutive championship!

Jeff Murphy and Colten Budd split the weekend in Glen Rose with Monster Truck Wars. This was the first time they have faced each other this season. Neither driver has enough reported events to make the Open rankings yet.

Jon Zimmer Sr roared past the competition in Hancock to win back-to-back Throwdown events.

8/29 Sat Ngt: BRYANT ROGERS [Black Widow] defeated Mason Rife [Psycho Circus]
Bryant Rogers had three consecutive runner-ups in the unbodied Black Widow truck but didn’t get the first win until Saturday in Hudonsville. He was strongest in the turn on the U-turn track and had wins over Gone Fishin’, American Outlaw, and Psycho Circus.

8/29 Sat Aft: KORY KINAL [Jekyll & Hyde] defeated Jimmy Creten [Bounty Hunter]
8/29 Sat Ngt: JIMMY CRETEN [Bounty Hunter] defeated Dawn Creten [Scarlet Bandit]
Jimmy Creten is up to 23 wins after his Saturday night victory in North Dakota. Kory Kinal took the afternoon win but lost out to Dawn in the evening race.

Mat Briand won back-to-back races for the second time this season, taking out the other three competitors on the U-turn track with Edge Motorsports.

8/29 Sat Ngt: ROD SCHMIDT [Redneck Rampage] defeated Dillon Fenley [King Krunch]
Rod Schmidt joined the Mayhem Monster Trucks Tour for the first time this season and grabbed the win on a tight out-and-back course in Mendon, taking out tour regular King Krunch in the finals.

9/1 Tue Ngt: JOSH HOLMAN [Rescue Racer] defeated Shane Grunseth [Metal Monster]
Josh Holman took home the trophy for the Chicago-style races with Monster Truck Bash in Ohio, beating Shane Grunseth in their 5th meeting this season. Holman leads 3-2.

Although we do not have brackets from the Gray, Tennessee event where RJ Turner won on Thursday night, we do have good coverage from the two-jump drag racing at The Buck Motorsports Park south of Lancaster, Pennsylvania where RJ Turner raced past Block Head, Dirt Crew, and Hurricane Force for his 3rd win of the season. He gained 5 spots in the rankings.

Devin Jones and Jerry Furajter met up three times for the rowdy crowd of racing fans in Xenia, Ohio with the Monster Truck Wars. Our reports tell us that the Shark won two of those three.
