===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR AUGUST 4^th – 10^th, 2026 =====

The last independent to win an open championship was Mark Hall in 2007. Jon Zimmer Jr is in a good position to win it for the first time this year and he helped his cause with a big weekend sweep in Fowlerville. He got past 13 competitors including 7^th-ranked David Olfert, the red-hot Montana Robbins, Triton Robbins, and three wins over Jon Zimmer Sr. That gained him Total Points to stay ahead of Alex Bardin, but gained him 5 points in the Average Score, which will likely be the make-or-break value for Zimmer. Second place Tyler Menninga is currently about 946 points out of first place.

Dillon Fenley swept racing in Cleburne to extend his winning streak to 12 races. Dan Dahlgren and Stanley Hernandez also picked up twin wins this weekend. In West Plains, teammates Preston Perez and Preston Collins each earned wins on the big roundy-round track. And in Washington, Joe Briggs won his first career racing bracket!

Remember that our racing season concludes at the end of September. We still have 215 events left on our schedule (and probably some more we are forgetting) before the season ends, so there is still plenty of time for drivers to make moves in the rankings. And of course, we still need YOUR help in report events! If you’re at any monster truck race this year, please send us the brackets and help us make every race count!

Last year in Augusta, Shane Oblen upset Brandon Derrow in the second night final. This year, Derrow was ready for the challenge and swept the KSR Motorsports drag racing events at the New Jersey State Fair.

Jordan Fisher nailed a big hole shot in the final round of the Renegade Tour racing and kept the lead over both jumps to win for the 4^th time this season.

Joe Briggs took advantage of breakage from his opponents and two strong passes on the long Chicago-style course to earn his first career racing win on Saturday night with the Malicious Tour. Nick Jones had Rock Star running strong on Sunday and picked up his 10^th win of the season.

Dillon Fenley has increased his Monster Trucks Maniac winning streak to 12 after taking two more wins in Cleburne, Texas. He has 26 wins in 29 races, which is the 2^nd most wins in the sport this season.

Kory Kinal had the edge over Dan Dahlgren coming into this weekend, but Dahlgren has improved to 8-9 head-to-head against Kinal after winning both of the 2X Live Finals in Contoocook.

8/9 Sun Aft: DONALD EPIDENDIO [Titan] defeated David Tucker [El Taco Loco]

Donald Epidendio picked up important points with the Malicious Tour in Crescent City as he works to regain his spot in the Top 5. He is currently about 90 points outside of 4^th place.

8/10 Mon Aft: BROOKE PAGLIARULO [MissFire] defeated Nick Pagliarulo [Kraken]

The Pagliarulos raced their way into the finals all three nights with the All Star Tour in Crown Point. Nick won a close race on Saturday, but won easily on Sunday when Brooke spun out. On Monday, it was Nick’s turn to spin out as he rammed into the turning hill, giving Brooke the easy win. Nick leads in their head-to-head races 19-9 this year.

8/5 Wed Ngt: DANIEL AGOSH [Raminator] defeated Kurt Kraehmer [Ramdemption]

Cheech Agosh has been quietly having a solid year for Hall Brothers Racing. He has earned points in all 11 of his events and won for the 2^nd time this season when he beat out veteran Jim Koehler in the first round and teammate Kurt Kraehmer in the finals in Dunbar, Pennsylvania.

With a possible world championship in his sights, Jon Zimmer Jr dominated a huge 14-truck field in Fowlerville with Throwdown to earn valuable points as the 2026 racing season enters its final months. None of the wins were easy, as he had to beat David Olfert (twice), Jim Koehler, Montana Robbins, Triton Robbins, and his father Jon Sr (thrice). He earned 752 points from those two wins. Montana Robbins continued his strong August with a runner-up and quarter-final finish.

8/8 Sat Ngt: MIKEAL CHRISTENSEN [Vendetta] defeated Jacob Ladwig [Rat Attack]

Mike Christensen won for the 4^th time this season, as he led Jacob Ladwig the whole lap on the SoCal style track in Helena with MEGA Promotions.

8/10 Mon Ngt: MASON RIFE [Psycho Circus] defeated Bryant Rogers [Black Widow]

Breakage reduced the field from 5 trucks down to just 2 for racing. 4 trucks is the minimum needed for an official bracket, but if trucks are eliminated due to breakage, we can still count the results. In this case, Black Widow also then broke at the line, giving us a very unusual situation as Mason Rife won the night with a bye run.

===== LITTLE VALLEY, NY =====

8/7 Fri Ngt: GREG WINCHENBACH [Crushstation] defeated Cory Snyder [Toxic]

8/8 Sat Aft: NO POINTS; The bracket could not be scored

Greg Winchenbach benefitted from a misjudged call in the semi-finals to advance into the final round and pick up his 8^th win of the season. Mike Vaters Sr was on the bad side of that call, although officials did correct the decision after the event. On Saturday, RII issues led to replacements that made the bracket unscorable.

8/4 Tue Ngt: JOSH HOLMAN [Rescue Racer] defeated Ryan Holman [Godzilla]

8/5 Wed Ngt: RYAN HOLMAN [Godzilla] defeated Josh Holman [Rescue Racer]

The Holmans went wheel-to-wheel on the tight course in Manassas with Monster Truck Bash and each took a win on the two-jump drag.

===== MCMINNVILLE, OR =====

8/8 Sat Aft: STANLEY HERNANDEZ [Werewolf] defeated Paul Craighead [Carolina Crusher]

Stanley Hernandez won both Chicago-style races with the Nitro Tour in McMinnville, giving him his first three-race winning streak of the season. Paul Craighead had an eight-race winning streak driving Bearfoot, but is stuck on a 6-race runner-up streak now behind the wheel of Carolina Crusher.

This Medina County Fair event did not meet the minimum of 4 trucks scheduled to compete. Steven Thompson beat JR Seasock on a challenging 3-jump mega-truck course in the only race of the night.

===== MILLERSBURG, OH =====

8/11 Tue Ngt: ROGER GAUGER [Bigfoot] defeated Colton Kiser [American Scout]

Just minutes before publishing time for this week, Roger Gauger scored his 5^th win in his past 7 races with the Full Throttle Tour, beating Colton Kiser for the 5^th time this season. Gauger gained 3 spots in the rankings with his win.

8/7 Fri Ngt: ALLEN PEZO [Predator ProMT] defeated Bryant Rogers [Black Widow]

Veteran Allen Pezo won for the 5^th time this season, taking out Bryant Rogers in the temporarily-named Black Widow truck. Rogers has beaten Pezo in the opening round, but Allen returned as fast loser to beat Chris Rogers in Relentless in the semis.

Thomas Borders was all business in picking up his 11^th win of the season and gaining 7 spots in the Open rankings to join the Top 50 for the first time this season.

8/8 Sat Aft: PRESTON COLLINS [Jurassic Attack] defeated Preston Pérez [Velociraptor]

The Toughest Tour returned to West Plains, Missouri for another big race on the big track in the Heart of the Ozarks. Preston Perez was in the finals both nights, picking up a win and runner-up finish, and gained 3 spots in the rankings. Preston Collins was the only one who could beat Perez this weekend and also gained 3 spots. Perez leads their head-to-head series 8-7 this season.
