===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR APRIL 26th – 28th, 2024 =====

MTROC staff got to visit with the Monster X Tour this weekend in York, Pennsylvania and saw Brett Falvey come back from a 4th-place qualifying run to beat out fast qualifier Steven Thompson and James Owens to give the historic USA-1 team another racing victory!

Jamie Sullivan has been stuck with timed racing for most of the past two months, but she returned to bracket racing with her first ever back-to-back-to-back victories in Columbus. She regains some lost ground and moves into 16th place overall with 10 wins on the season.

Zack Garner was a finalist all four times this weekend in Colorado and a winner twice as it was announced that he will be competing in the Monster Jam World Finals later this month.

Dillon Fenley led the American Monster Trucks tour into Mexico and grabbed two wins. Jimmy Creten returned to the wheel for the first time since early February and picked up a very close win over Rob Poutre in Kansas City. Usual suspects on the Monster Jam Stadium tour as Tyler Menninga and Camden Murphy each scored wins, but Kayla Blood was the biggest mover as her runner-up finish in Denver gained her 7 spots in the rankings.

Both Basls got wins this weekend with Daron winning in Wheeling with the Toughest Tour and moving up into 21st; and Aaron extending his winning streak to 5 with Monster Truck Wars before his first round loss on Sunday.

This upcoming weekend is going to be a busy one so we’re looking to see some more movement in the rankings by next week.

Thank you to everyone who reported results to us this weekend: Dillon Fenley, Aaron Basl, Rob Poutre, Nate Bay, Hayden Shinaberry, David Rife, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

4/26 Fri Ngt: We do not have results from this event

4/27 Sat Ngt: We do not have results from this event

===== BRIDGEPORT, CT =====

===== COLORADO SPRINGS, CO =====

4/26 Fri Ngt: ZACK GARNER [Wild Side] defeated Armando Castro [El Toro Loco]

4/27 Sat Aft: ARMANDO CASTRO [El Toro Loco] defeated Zack Garner [Wild Side]

4/27 Sat Ngt: KRYSTEN ANDERSON [Grave Digger] defeated Zack Garner [Wild Side]

4/28 Sun Aft: ZACK GARNER [Wild Side] defeated Armando Castro [El Toro Loco]

Zack Garner is on his way to the Monster Jam World Finals later this month and with performances like the one he just had in Colorado Springs it’s easy to see why. Garner was in the finals every race and picked up 2 wins (giving him 11 this season) to move up into 9th place overall in the World rankings. Armando Castro was in the finals 3 times with 1 win and remains inside the Top Ten. Krysten Anderson was the other finalist as she beat Garner in the Saturday Night finals for her first win of the season and moves up six spots inside the Top 50. Her semi-final win over Castro also ended Castro’s 10-race final round streak in El Toro Loco. He has been in the final round in 26 of his 47 races.

===== COLUMBUS, OH =====

4/26 Fri Ngt: JAMIE SULLIVAN [Monster Mutt Dalmatian] defeated Alex Bardin [Stone Crusher]

4/27 Sat Aft: JAMIE SULLIVAN [Monster Mutt Dalmatian] defeated Weston Anderson [Grave Digger]

4/27 Sat Ngt: JAMIE SULLIVAN [Monster Mutt Dalmatian] defeated Weston Anderson [Grave Digger]

4/28 Sun Aft: WESTON ANDERSON [Grave Digger] defeated Brianna Mahon [Scooby-Doo!]

Jamie Sullivan has only had 3 points races since March 15th but came back to her first 3 points races with back-to-back-to-back wins in Columbus! Unofficially, I believe this is the first three-race winning streak for a female driver in Open Championship history. It’s also the first back-to-back wins for Sullivan this season who now has 10 wins on the season and is up to 16th place overall in the world. He only loss came in the Sunday semi-finals to eventual winner Weston Anderson, whom she had beaten in the final round the previous two brackets. Weston lost a spot in the standings to Zack Garner but stays inside the Top Ten.

===== DENVER, CO =====

4/27 Sat Ngt: TYLER MENNINGA [Grave Digger] defeated John Gordon [Bad Company]

Defending Open Champion Tyler Menninga scored win 26 to tie Dalton Widner for the wins lead this season. As has often happened, Tyler is the first driver to 10,000 points and currently the only driver over that threshold. Independent star John Gordon competed in his 7th final round (still only 1 win so far) and gained a spot to rank 7th overall. He is the highest-ranked independent driver and one of only 3 inside the Top Ten (Dalton Widner and Zack Garner).

===== EVANSVILLE, IN =====

This Monster Jam event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded.

===== GLENDALE, AZ =====

4/27 Sat Ngt: CAMDEN MURPHY [Bakugan Dragonoid] defeated Kayla Blood [Soldier Fortune]

Camden Murphy beat out rival Adam Anderson in the second round by one of the narrowest margins of the year as he marched on to his 5th win of the season. Murphy gains a spot to get the 4th rank although he is still a distant 4th beyond Adam in 3rd. Kayla Blood has not had as much success on the Stadium tour this season as in years past but returned to the finals in Glendale and gained 7 spots in the rankings. She has been in the final round in 3 of her past 5 events including her Arena Series runs last weekend in Hampton, Virginia.

===== HARRISONBURG, VA =====

4/27 Sat Aft: NO POINTS; This event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== KANSAS CITY, KS =====

4/27 Sat Aft: JIMMY CRETEN [Bounty Hunter] defeated Rob Poutre [Brutal]

Jimmy Creten was called the winner in a close final round against Rob Poutre in Kansas City. Jimmy returned to the wheel of Bounty Hunter for the first time since February 3rd and raced in only his 4th race since November of last year. But, he does have a 6-race winning streak stretched out over that time. Rob Poutre had been driving Bounty Hunter in place of Creten and has picked up 10 wins in that truck. This was his first time driving Brutal this season.

===== MONA, UT =====

4/26 Fri Ngt: JACOB LADWIG [Rat Attack] defeated Brandon Swick [Geronimo Reincarnated]

It was a muddy mess in Utah but Jacob Ladwig handled the tough conditions expertly for his 3rd consecutive win and 5th overall this season.

===== MONTERREY, MEXICO =====

4/27 Sat Ngt: DILLON FENLEY [King Krunch] defeated Thomas Kimmons [Kicking & Screaming]

4/28 Sun Ngt: DILLON FENLEY [King Krunch] defeated Mark Andrew [Wicked Sickness]

Dillon Fenley and the American Monster Trucks tour went to Monterrey, Mexico for the first time and he picked up both wins driving the legendary King Krunch.

===== MUNICH, GERMANY =====

This Monster Jam event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded.

===== TALLAHASSEE, FL =====

===== TALLMADGE, OH =====

4/27 Sat Ngt: AARON BASL [T-Rex] defeated Travis Rife [Outlaw]

4/28 Sun Aft: TRAVIS RIFE [Outlaw] defeated Kaley Engstrom [Shark Attack]

Aaron Basl built up a 5-race winning streak through Saturday on the Monster Truck Wars tour but lost out on Sunday to end the streak. Travis Rife put Outlaw into the winner’s circle that day. Kyle Sizemore also made his driving debut in Sheriff.

===== TROY, PA =====

4/27 Sat Aft: SHAWN OBLEN [Webslinger] defeated Joe Jenkins [Killer Bee]

Shawn Oblen made his first appearance of the season in Endless Mountain and picked up a comfortable win over Joe Jenkins in Killer Bee on the short drag racing track.

===== TURLOCK, CA =====

4/27 Sat Aft: TONY CANEDO [Play'n' For Keeps] defeated Rodney Tweedy [USA-1]

4/27 Sat Ngt: BRANDON GALLIE [Enforcer] defeated Hunter Souza [Scattered]

Breakage limited the 8-truck bracket in Turlock but not the action as the drivers went big looking for the win. Tony Canedo won the afternoon race of Rodney Tweedy, but then lost out in back-to-back rounds against Brandon Gallie in the evening. Gallie then beat Hunter Souza in the finals despite a full-throttle charge at the finish line from Souza that came up just short.

===== WHEELING, WV =====

4/26 Fri Ngt: We do not have results from this event

4/27 Sat Aft: DARON BASL [Block Head] defeated Jack Brown [Dirt Crew Dozer]

4/27 Sat Ngt: PRESTON PÉREZ [Toxic] defeated Jack Brown [Dirt Crew Dozer]

We still need the Friday results from the Toughest Tour in Wheeling, but even without them Jack Brown and Daron Basl gained 3 spots each in the rankings. Brown’s two runner-up finishes give him 16 finals in 25 races and he finds himself in 11th place and only 780 points out of the Top Ten. Daron Basl won his 9th of the year on Saturday afternoon and is up to 21st.

===== YORK, PA =====

4/27 Sat Aft: BRETT FALVEY [USA-1] defeated James Owens [Quad Chaos]

4/27 Sat Ngt: STEVEN THOMPSON [Bearly Tame] defeated Tommy Varilone [Rampage]

MTROC staff was on hand for the afternoon races in York, Pennsylvania with the Monster X Tour. The five truck field was whittled down to 4 though a qualifying round. Steven Thompson cameoed in Bearly Tame and was fastest qualifier at 5.68 while Matt Cummings in Monster Patrol was eliminated with a 6.76 elapsed time. Thompson himself was soon out, too, as Brett Falvey in USA-1 upset Thompson in the first round when Thompson had to let off slightly in no-man’s land to avoid hitting the stage on the very tight front-stretch track. In the finals, Falvey was full-throttle over the first jump and used a well-timed rebound to float over the second jump and beat out James Owens for the win.

In the evening, Thompson got the course figured out and grabbed the win over Tommy Varilone in Rampage.
