===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JULY 31st – AUGUST 3rd, 2025 =====

The summer silly season continues with events almost every night. There were several events on Monday through Wednesday of this week, too, which we’ll be included in next week’s update.

Two huge independent events happened this past weekend. First, Jon Zimmer Jr defended his win from last year at the Back-to-School Bash in Charlotte. Fortunately this year’s racing ended without the calamity we saw last year. Second, in West Lebanon was saw the Robbins and Pagliarulos match up in both finals, but each night with different siblings and a different winner. One of those was Brooke Pagliarulo who debuted her new Miss Fire truck and also debuted in her first career racing final.

In Sweden, Orjan Henriksson continued his dominance on the Monsterrace tour, remaining undefeated through 3 events and coming within inches of making it 4 complete. However, with a big monster leap at the finish line on Sunday afternoon, Peter Nyman in Thor finally managed to catch and pass Yellow Cab in the air over the finish line to end the winning streak. Monsterrace has one more weekend this year in Ed at the end of August.

Cory Snyder, Bill Payne, Pat Paquet, and Jason Court each won twice this weekend. Dalton Widner grabbed a win in Utah and moves within 300 points of the Top 5. Brandon Derrow and Mike Vaters Jr both join the rankings in the Top 40. Thomas Borders won the hometown race for the High Roller Team. And Tommy Varilone comes oh-so close to wins in Crown Point but has to settle for 3 runner-ups.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Pat Paquet, Nick Jones, Bryan Wagner, Tim Howard, Cory Snyder, Max Gillie, Christopher Warnick, Jason Court, David Tucker, Mark Werner, Mikeal Christensen, Matt Stoltz, Nate Bay, Steve Parry, Preston Perez,  Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

8/2 Sat Aft: PAT PAQUET [Psycho Pat] defeated Jason Court [Roughneck]

8/2 Sat Ngt: JASON COURT [Roughneck] defeated Perry Como [Loud & Dirty]

Four races in two days is a rough schedule . . . just the kind of schedule a Roughneck needs, apparently. Jason Court wins 2 of 4 finals on the weekend. Pat Paquet takes the other 2 but missed the Saturday night racing with a broken transmission.

===== ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

Brandon Derrow joins the rankings this week in 34th place with 12 wins in 20 events. He took down both of the Holman boys in Bowling Green and is running on a 3-race winning streak.

8/2 Sat Aft: We do not have results from this event

8/2 Sat Ngt: We do not have results from this event

We know Predator won on Friday in drag racing, but that’s all we’ve got from Chickasha. This one is always a tough event to get results from. If you remember any of the brackets please send the news our way!

===== CONCORD, NC =====

8/2 Sat Ngt: JON ZIMMER JR [Terminal Velocity] defeated David Olfert [Dirt Crew]

The biggest event for independent monster truck racing is the awesome Back-to-School Bash at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This year’s track moved the finish line back to the front stretch which provided for fun finishes over the 3 giant front stretch jumps. Ryan Disharoon in Saigon Shaker posted the fastest qualifying time but broke after his first round win, which allowed David Olfert to return to the bracket and eventually advance to the final round. Former event winner John Gordon had a bad leap over the bus stack in the front stretch and got hung up, forcing him to reverse and post a slower-than-expected qualifying team which kept Gordon out of the 8-truck bracket.

One of the best races of the night was the semi-final bout between Dirt Crew and Tail Gator which came down to the final 2 jumps in a nailbiting finish. That’s hard to do on a track that takes over a full minute to complete! This year’s finals was much less destructive than last year’s double crash, but the result looked the same on paper with Jon Zimmer Jr in Terminal Velocity taking the win. Believe it or not but that’s his first win since the Throwdown event in Crystal, Michigan back in May! But the bigger news is that he has now won this big event in back-to-back years.

===== COOKEVILLE, TN =====

8/2 Sat Ngt: We do not have results from this event

===== CRESCENT CITY, CA =====

8/3 Sun Aft: We do not have results from this event

8/2 Sat Ngt: BRETT FALVEY [The Haymaker] defeated Tommy Varilone [Dirt Crew]

8/3 Sun Aft: JARED SMITH [Maximus] defeated Tommy Varilone [Dirt Crew]

Six trucks were invited to the All Star races in Crown Point but only 4 qualified for the field each night. Brett Falvey in Haymaker and Tommy Varilone in Dirt Crew were the only 2 to qualify for the bracket all three times. Falvey won on Saturday night, collecting his 13th win of the season. Tommy Varilone had a frustrating weekend, advancing to the final round every night but only coming away with 2nd place trophies. He’s been in the finals 5 of 7 times since joining the Dirt Crew team.

It was a big homecoming for the High Roller team in Farmington, Missouri. Thomas Borders got the honors of wearing the High Roller III body and he delivered the racing win over Bigfoot in the finals. Snyder was lightning fast on the outdoor concrete Chicago style track in New York, taking down both members of the Vaters clan on successive nights. This event also saw the bracket racing debut of Jessie Turner (daughter of War Wizard’s Allison Turner) who was driving Iron Warrior.

This Versus Monster Trucks event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== MONROE, MI =====

8/1 Fri Ngt: BRANDON OVERMYER [American Outlaw] defeated Cody Bengford [Black Widow]

Five consecutive finals and now back-to-back wins for Brandon Overmyer! He had some fast passes and survived a lot of breakage that hurt his competitors to take the drag racing win in Monroe, Michigan. Cody Bengford in Black Widow also advanced thanks to breakage, with Gunslinger out after the first round, and Jeremy Hosman in Reckless Drivin rolling over after his first round win.

===== RANSOMVILLE, NY =====

8/2 Sat Ngt: ZACH WINCHENBACH [Lumberjack] defeated Anne Breaud [Muddy Girl]

Versus Monster Trucks has a sell out crowd to witness some fast and exciting drag racing on the front stretch of Ransomville Speedway. Zach Winchenbach chopped down the competition with 3 fast racing passes, giving him 3 racing wins in his past 4 events.

===== SPANISH FORK, UT =====

8/1 Fri Ngt: DALTON WIDNER [Shell Shocked] defeated Mikeal Christensen [Vendetta]

Dalton Widner had the new turtle truck moving fast in Spanish Fork, narrowly beating out Mike Christensen for the 10th time this season (10-3). Widner is currently about 300 points outside of the Top 5.

===== SUNRISE, FL =====

This Monster Jam Arena Series event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== TOCKSFORS, SWEDEN =====

8/2 Sat Aft: ÖRJAN HENRIKSSON [Yellow Cab] defeated Peter Nyman [Thor]

8/3 Sun Aft: PETER NYMAN [Thor] defeated Örjan Henriksson [Yellow Cab]

If you think catching a yellow cab is tough in New York City, you should try doing it on the Monsterrace circuit in Sweden! Orjan Henriksson swept the first two races in Hogsater in convincing fashion as the newly-debuted Yellow Cab was fast and smooth all weekend. The competition came into Tocksfors looking for revenge and trying to close the points gap. It took until Day 2, but Peter Nyman just barely beat out the Yellow Cab in the final race of the weekend. He had one of his toughest racing days in a while, too, having to make up for a late start in the first round against Big Fighter, before a very close race with fellow terra-tired Oden.

Monsterrace will be in Ed at the end of this month for the final 2 races of the season.

===== UKIAH, CA =====

This Redwood Empire Fair event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== WEST LEBANON, NY =====

8/1 Fri Ngt: NICK PAGLIARULO [Kraken] defeated Montana Robbins [Plane Krazy]

8/2 Sat Ngt: TRITON ROBBINS [Krazy Train] defeated Brooke Pagliarulo [Miss Fire]

The Never Lift team brought in an awesome field of 8 independent trucks to compete on the triple-jump drag track at historic Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York. Both finals were between the Robbins and Pagliarulo family but with different siblings and different outcomes. Nick Pagliarulo was straight as an arrow on his passes Friday night, including his semi-final win over Triton Robbins, and collected his 4th win in his last 5 races. Robbins got past Axe in the Saturday semi-finals after Axe had knocked out Kraken in the first round. His opponent was a surprising entry as young Brooke Pagliarulo competed in her first career championship race in the debut event for her new Miss Fire truck. Brooke showed great speed in the earlier rounds of racing and gave Triton a battle until the final jump when the top-ranked independent racer pulled away for his 23rd win this season.
