===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR JULY 10th – JULY 17th, 2024 =====

Monsters of Destruction was the new promoter in town for the Bloomsburg Jamboree this year but the racing had a familiar old-school look to it as veteran Mark Hall advanced to the finals each day and picked up the Friday win. Daron Basl in Blockhead won the other two days on a tight and challenging S-course. Those two were the biggest movers this weekend, gaining 8 and 5 spots respectively.

The highest rated event was in Tooele, Utah where Team Throttle Monster had a civil war with four of their top drivers on hand. David Olfert and Mike Christensen each earned a win on the J-turn track.

In Allentown, Tyler Menninga and Jon Zimmer Jr faced off for the first time with Menninga taking both heats. Tyler won once in three trips to the finals, with Tony Ochs and Jon Zimmer Sr picked up big upsets to close out the weekend.

Mason Rife and Colton Kiser won their first events of the season and rookie Shane Grunseth won his first career event in Plattsburgh with Versus.

Keep reading for more info on all the great action this weekend. Monster Jam was in London, the Renegades had a long four-race weekend in Maryland, Throwdown went racing in both Ionia and Mansfield, and we add in a few midweek brackets as well.

Thank you to everyone who reported results to us this weekend: Chuck Plumlee, Alex Bardin, Preston Perez, Mike Bevacqua, J.r. Rouse, Steve Parry, Lee Collins, Mike Christensen, John Brown, Connor McNeil, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

===== ALLENTOWN, PA =====

7/13 Sat Aft: TYLER MENNINGA [Grave Digger] defeated Brandan Tulachka [Just Get Er Done II]

7/13 Sat Ngt: TONY OCHS [ThunderROARus] defeated Tyler Menninga [Grave Digger]

7/14 Sun Aft: JON ZIMMER SR [Uproar] defeated Tyler Menninga [Grave Digger]

Current World #1 Tyler Menninga faced stiff competition in Allentown this weekend and only managed 1 win in his 3 trips to the finals. The big match-up for the weekend was Menninga and rising star Jon Zimmer Jr in Terminal Velocity going head-to-head for the first time. Menninga won both match-ups but only by inches. Tony Ochs picked up a huge win on Saturday night in his home state and evened his series with Menninga with 1 win each. On Sunday afternoon, Tyler made the finals despite having rear steering issues, but could not manage the ailing truck in the finals which allowed the smooth and steady Jon Zimmer Sr to grab his first Monster Jam win of the season.

===== BLOOMSBURG, PA =====

7/12 Fri Ngt: MARK HALL [Raminator] defeated Jack Brown [Dirt Crew Dozer]

7/13 Sat Aft: DARON BASL [Block Head] defeated Mark Hall [Raminator]

7/14 Sun Aft: DARON BASL [Block Head] defeated Mark Hall [Raminator]

For the first time ever the Monsters of Destruction tour promoted the racing action at the 4-Wheel Jamboree in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The tight S-turn track was a challenge for drivers with changing conditions in each turn and tight lanes which made for several close calls coming towards the finish line.

Former Summer Jamboree points champion Mark Hall returned to Bloomsburg in style by winning the Friday night race as Jack Brown spun out in the final turn. Hall made the finals each day and has now been in the final round in 4 of his last 5 races. He was the biggest mover of the weekend, gaining 8 spots in the standings, although the veteran is still far away from earning his 3rd Open Championship down in 57th.

Daron Basl won the final two races of the weekend in Blockhead and gained 5 spots in the standings himself. He is now ranked 13th which ties his highest rank of the season.

===== CLIO, MI =====

7/13 Sat Aft: TOMMY VARILONE [Rampage] defeated Austin Spence [Boss Gator]

7/13 Sat Ngt: TOMMY VARILONE [Rampage] defeated Ashton Torgerson [USA-1]

Winner of 5 of his last 6, Tommy Varilone swept the weekend in Clio on a big Chicago-style track with the Monster X Tour. Despite the wins, the Rampage team is having trouble making moves in the standings as the competition around them keep winning, too.

===== CROWNSVILLE, MD =====

7/12 Fri Ngt: ALEX BARDIN [Stone Crusher] defeated Billy Braukmann [Shockwave]

7/13 Sat Aft: CEEJAY RETTEW [Stinger Unleashed] defeated Frank Krmel [Hooked]

7/13 Sat Ngt: ZANE RETTEW [Shredder] defeated Alex Bardin [Stone Crusher]

7/14 Sun Aft: FRANK KRMEL [Hooked] defeated Alex Bardin [Stone Crusher]

The Renegades had a long weekend in Crownsville with four events on the tight drag racing track in Anne Arundel County. Four different drivers won an event but Alex Bardin was the big winning as he added two runner-up finishes, as well. Another 22 points and he would have broken into the Top 25 this week.

===== DAVISBURG, MI =====

7/13 Sat Ngt: MASON RIFE [Psycho Circus] defeated Jeremy Hosman [Reckless Drivin']

Mason Rife’s summer season is just warming up and he picked up his first win in convincing fashion over Jeremy Hosman on a tight Chicago-style track in Davisburg.

===== EDMONTON, AB =====

This Monster Jam Arena event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== EVANSVILLE, IN =====

This would have been the biggest independent of the season by far but once again the Summer Smash comes and goes without any side-by-side racing. It was a huge missed opportunity for incredible racing. Each event would have been worth over 400 points with a field that included Jimmy and Dawn Creten, Jim and Chris Koehler, Joe Foley, Venard, Rob Poutre, Mike Brister, Cory Rummel, Chad Tingler, Jamey Garner, Dan Dahlgren, Elvis Lainez, Deidra Ballard, Preston Perez, and not to mentioned reigning World Finals champion Zack Garner! If the Summer Smash promoters ever bring racing back this will return to being one of the biggest points events on the calendar, but for this year it remains just a show. Fortunately for fans these drivers are all just as accomplished at freestyle as they are at racing so the performances were still spectacular.

===== GEARY, NB =====

7/13 Sat Aft: We do not have results from this event. If you have any information on this events please share it with us!

===== GODDELLS, MI =====

7/16 Tue Ngt: JOE FOLEY [Axe] defeated Jim Koehler [Avenger]

Joe Foley started his summer with an impressive runner-up finish on the Monster Jam Stadium tour in East Rutherford and now adds his 2nd win of the season over the boss in Goodells. Last year we saw Jim Koehler gain a lot of ground with a dominant summer performance; perhaps we’ll see another Team Scream member do the feat this summer.

===== HEPWORTH, ON =====

7/13 Sat Aft: MIKE WORSLEY [Outfoxed] defeated Kevin Lubsen [Bucking Bronco]

7/13 Sat Ngt: EASON NUTTAL [Wadded Up] defeated Sharon Lubsen [Canadian Crusher]

Another weekend of parity on the Canadian All Out tour as each driver gets a chance in the finals. There hasn’t been a back-to-back winner on the tour all season, but Eason Nuttal’s third win on Saturday night puts him in the lead on tour.

===== IONIA, MI =====

7/12 Fri Ngt: We do not have results from this event

7/13 Sat Ngt: ELLIOTT MILLER [Frontier Truck Parts] defeated Zach Winchenbach [Lumberjack]

Elliott Miller had a real lead foot on Saturday in Ionia and blasted past the competition for his 3rd win of the season. He needs 2 more events to join the rankings. One of those could be Friday night in Ionia, but all we know from that bracket is that Zach Winchenback in Lumberjack got the win. If anyone knows anything more please tell us so we can score it.

===== LACHUTE, QC =====

7/12 Fri Ngt: NO POINTS; This event did not meet the minimum of 4 trucks scheduled to compete

===== LONDON, ENGLAND =====

7/13 Sat Aft: TRISTAN ENGLAND [JCB DIGatron] defeated Charlie Pauken [Megalodon]

Former Monster Jam World Finals Racing Champion Tristan England took the JCB DIGatron across the pond to London and won his 8th event of the season to solidify his 4th place ranking. He bested long-time veteran Charlie Pauken who maintains a solid 50th place ranking in his (if our count is right) 34th season of competition.

===== MANSFIELD, OH =====

7/13 Sat Aft: MICHAEL PAGLIARULO [Excaliber] defeated Nick Pagliarulo [Kraken]

7/13 Sat Ngt: NICK PAGLIARULO [Kraken] defeated Michael Pagliarulo [Excaliber]

Throwdown was back at historic Mansfield for some two-jump drag racing. It was the same story both brackets as the Pagliarulos met up in the finals and split the wins by inches.

===== MANTI, UT =====

7/13 Sat Ngt: JACOB LADWIG [Rat Atack] defeated Tim Manchester [Hillbilly]

Not much info from this one but we have enough to say that Jacob Ladwig gets the win in the holeshot racing finals.

===== PITTSBURGH, PA =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== PLATTSBURGH, NY =====

7/12 Fri Aft: STEVEN THOMPSON [Hurricane Force] defeated Perry Como [Loud & Dirty]

7/12 Fri Ngt: SHANE GRUNSETH [Metal Monster] defeated Perry Como [Loud & Dirty]

Versus Monster Trucks went racing in Plattsburgh and saw rookie Shane Grunseth record his first ever career racing win on Friday night! He debuted the truck last weekend at a freestyle-only event in Arrington, Virginia, but this weekend was his first time side-by-side. Perry Como was runner-up twice. He lost to Steven Thompson on Friday afternoon and then replaced a broken Hurricane Force in the finals later that night.

===== RIVER GLADE, NB =====

7/14 Sun Aft: MICHAEL VATERS I [Black Stallion] defeated Chris DeHoyos [Higher Education]

The World Series of Monster Trucks ran a long but tight Chicago-style track at the Petty International Raceway. Mikey Vaters in Overkill was the favorite to win, but spun out in the first turn against his father in Black Stallion and missed the final round for the first time this season. Mike Vaters Sr went on to win and get his 2nd win of the season. Mike Sr needs 2 more events to join the rankings and Mike Jr needs 5.

===== TOLEDO, OH =====

This Hot Wheels Live event did not include side-by-side racing and so points were not awarded

===== TOOELE, UT =====

7/12 Fri Ngt: DAVID OLFERT [Velociraptor] defeated Mikeal Christensen [Vendetta]

7/13 Sat Ngt: MIKEAL CHRISTENSEN [Vendetta] defeated Alberto Trevino [Kamikaze]

The highest-rated event of the weekend (1.088) featured 4 Throttle Monster teammates going head-to-head in Toole, Utah. Rudy Martin Del Campo had the tough task of battling with the four Monsters and was left fighting an ailing truck, too. Monster Jam World Finals LCQ winner David Olfert repeated his performance from Los Angeles on Friday night as he beat out Mike Christensen in Vendetta on the J-turn track after coming back as fast loser. On Saturday night, Olfert lost out to Berto Trevino in Kamikaze in the first round for the 2nd day but this time (with only 4 trucks in the bracket) there was not fast loser spot to use. In the finals, it was Christensen in Vendetta coming through with the win to move up to 11th in the standings.

===== TROY, MO =====

7/11 Thu Ngt: COLTON KISER [American Scout] defeated Roger Gauger [Bigfoot]

Colton Kiser won his first event of the season in Troy, Missouri. He is 3-3 against Roger Gauger this season but this was the first time the two had met in the finals. The Full Throttle Tour remains busy this summer with upcoming events in Philpot, Kentucky and Goshen, Indiana this week.

===== TURLOCK, CA =====

7/10 Wed Ngt: SHANE PLATO [Skull Krusher] defeated Eric Swanson [Obsessed]

7/11 Thu Ngt: BRANDON SWICK [Geronimo Reincarnated] defeated Justin Elliott [Controlled Khaos]

Chuck Jam went racing this weekend with some strong running west coast stars on a fast drag racing track. The only thing that could beat Shane Plato in Skull Krusher was mechanical problems. He won on Wednesday but had to drop out of the finals on Thursday and let Justin Elliott in the new Controlled Khaos truck compete in his first ever final round. His first win will have to wait: Brandon Swick in Geronimo came out on top.

===== WACONIA, MN =====

7/13 Sat Aft: NO POINTS; Racing was contested as solo timed runs rather than side-by-side

===== WEST RICHLAND, WA =====

7/13 Sat Ngt: BILL PAYNE [Rock Star] defeated Michael Keller [NAPA Autocare]
