===== WEEKEND RECAP FOR APRIL 11th – 13th, 2025 =====

Eight of the cities this weekend saw racing sweeps and Phoenix, Arizona nearly saw Nick Jones win all 5!

Colt Stephens churned through a muddy mess in Foxborough to win for the 3rd time this year. Nick Jones has Spitfire running strong and took 4 of 5 brackets with the All Stars. Carson Williams gained 7 ranks after winning the 8-truck bracket in Gaithersburg twice.

There were a lot of sweep and winning streaks going on this weekend for sure. Jimmy Creten, Devin Jones, Dillon Fenley, Allen Pezo, and Daron Basl all went 2-for-2. Ryan Anderson did it, too, on the super-competitive Monster Jam Stadium West tour, which helped him leapfrog Tyler Menninga for 2nd place in the Open Championship rankings. Brett Falvey was 3-for-3 with The Haymaker in Florida.

We also saw Blake Granger back in action, coming up 1 heat win short of a 3-race weekend sweep. Coty Saucier and Brianna Mahon split the 4-race weekend in North Charleston with Mahon claiming 3 Overalls.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with reporting events this week: Chuck Plumlee, Matt Stoltz, Jerry Furajter, Andrew Thornton, Sean Green, Bryan Wagner, Nick Jones, Chris Yuhas, Kirk Nagy, Phil Vicinanza, and everyone who posted videos and photos online!

Aaron Basl only had 2 wins all of March but has started off April with 2 wins in 3 races and how has 2 wins in a row on the Monster Truck Wars tour. That marks his 10th win of the season and moves him up 3 spots in the rankings. The sad news is that we only have reports for 9 of the last 15 Monster Truck Wars events on this tour, but the good news for T-Rex fans is that Devin Jones has been in the final round all 9 times. 4/12 Sat Aft: BRETT FALVEY [The Haymaker] defeated Cliff Vowell [Virginia Giant]

4/12 Sat Ngt: BRETT FALVEY [The Haymaker] defeated Dustin Spallone [High Tide]

Warped Motorsports’ Preston Perez and Cory Snyder took home lots of racing wins during the All Star Tour’s point series earlier this year, but Brett Falvey—in his first year with The Haymaker team—gave them strong competition at every turn. With the Marylanders now in semi-retirement, Falvey had no mercy on the rest of the All Stars in their first summer event as he swept all 3 events. He now has a 4-race winning streak plus has won 5 of his last 7.

===== FOXBOROUGH, MA =====

4/12 Sat Aft: COLT STEPHENS [ThunderROARus] defeated Mikeal Christensen [Vendetta]

Total mud pit in Foxborough as rains and cold weather made for miserable racing conditions that forced the talented drivers of the Monster Jam Stadium East series to employ different skills and driving styles than what they are used to.

Second-generation driver Colt Stephens was one of only 4 drivers who was able to complete the track in under 30-seconds. He did that in the first round (28.268) as he opened the bracket with a win over Mayhem. In the quarter-finals, his run was slower but still good enough to beat series points leader Tyler Menninga in Grave Digger who slid-out toward the wall in the second turn and never truly recovered. The semi-finals saw the fastest race of the night with Stephens beating out Camden Murphy in Classroom Crusher 27.341 to 29.294. It was the only time both drivers were under 30-seconds.

Veteran Mike Christensen advanced to the finals for the 3rd time this year with steady runs. The final lap was his fastest of the night at 30.467 but he came up inches short of Stephens who ran a 30.245 to claim his 3rd win of the season! That win also bumps him back up into the Top 20 where he has spent most of the season.

===== GAITHERSBURG, MD =====

4/12 Sat Aft: CARSON WILLIAMS [Velociraptor] defeated Joe Jenkins [Killer Bee]

4/12 Sat Ngt: CARSON WILLIAMS [Velociraptor] defeated Joe Jenkins [Killer Bee]

The races in Gaithersburg always have great action and sometimes gets wilder than the course can handle. The Renegade Tour ran a large Chicago-style track with big ramps for their 2-event, 8-truck races. On Saturday afternoon we saw the highlight of the weekend in the semi-finals as Carson Williams in Velociraptor and Ceejay Rettew in Stinger laid it all on the line. Neither driver lifted as they raced over the final jump, getting huge air over the finish line, and resulting in Williams sliding the Velociraptor into a boundary trailer in the shutdown area!

Joe Jenkins in Killer Bee earned the right to face Williams in the finals but could not return due to breakage. Since the other semi-finalists were also unavailable, Cliff Turner in Kamikaze raced the finals despite having lost in the first round. Per MTROC rules, this substitution is not permitted, so the announced final is Velociraptor over Kamikaze but the scored final for points has Velociraptor with a bye-run win over Killer Bee, who will get runner-up points.

The Saturday bracket was similar to the afternoon, but this time Jenkins was able to line-up for the final round against Williams. Despite the chance to meet him head-to-head, Jenkins came up short as Carson Williams sweeps the weekend. He has 4 wins in his last 5 races and gained 7 spots in the rankings to reach the Top 40.

4/13 Sun Aft: RYAN ANDERSON [Son-Uva Digger] defeated Tristan England [JCB DIGatron]

Reigning Open Champion Ryan Anderson is on another hot streak with 3 Stadium wins in a row and 4 wins in his last 5 races. He beat out rivals Bryce Kenny and Tristan England on the large and long track at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This year’s track featured an S-turn prior to the usual head-to-head drag race towards the center of the track. Those wins—coupled with Tyler Menninga getting bogged down in Foxborough—has moved Anderson into the 2nd rank with the highest Average score (210.82). He is around 730 points out of first place. He is also now only 7 points behind Tristan England for the Stadium West points lead.

Coty Saucier continues to lead the sport as he picked up the other 2 wins, giving him 28 wins this season. In our 6 years of the MTROC, we’ve only had a driver reach 30 wins in a season 14 times.
